Dear walking book clubbers,
A new idea!
I love our Sunday walks on Hampstead Heath and our Monday evening Zooms (scroll down for details of tonight’s), and for those of us who would like even more ways to connect, I’m excited to share a new plan for Emily’s Walking Book Club:
A monthly Friday discussion ‘thread’ here on substack at 2-2.30pm.
For those of you who aren’t too sure what a discussion thread is (I didn’t know either until about an hour ago), essentially it’s an online conversation made up of written comments.
I will begin our chat with a prompt or question (much like on our walks), then you can respond by typing in a thought, another question, or perhaps even a quotation you’d like to pull out, who knows!? I will be jumping in to respond and add new prompts as we go. Let’s keep it relaxed and see where it takes us.
Our first discussion thread will be THIS FRIDAY 1st July, at 2-2.30pm BST. There will be two topics:
1. This month’s book, Childhood by Tove Ditlevsen
2. What else you’ve been reading over June.
I’ve tried to pick a time that is accessible for as many of us as possible, but if you would love to join this conversation but this time is a nightmare for you then please let me know so we can rethink for future threads.
Fancy giving it a go? Book it in: 2-2.30pm this Friday, when you can click HERE or look out for the email (with a link) that will arrive in your inbox.
Zoom tonight
Please join me on Zoom at 8pm tonight for a 40 minute chat about Tove Ditlevsen’s Childhood. I will read out some extracts and open up a broad discussion so please don’t worry if you’ve not done all the ‘homework’.
You can book via Eventbrite using the blue button below, which allows you to pay and gives me an idea of numbers.
Or, feel free to join directly by clicking HERE, or using these details:
Meeting ID: 786 8807 1584 Passcode: Ditlevsen
Happy reading!
