📚🚶Jane Austen's Persuasion - on Zoom tonight
Join me for this evening's Zoom book club to discuss and discover more about this beloved classic
Dear walking book clubbers,
Thank you to all who came along to close the summer season of Emily’s Walking Book Club with a tremendous discussion of Jane Austen’s Persuasion. I can’t believe it’s our 150th book. What a landmark! It was also a delight to meet some new book clubbers at our opening walk for the Idler Festival - pictured above just before we set off.
Thanks as ever to Lucy, our resident baker, who’s oaty biscuits for the Hampstead Heath walk were incredibly good as ever. As her array of book club biscuits demonstrates, Lucy is an expert and highly qualified chef, so if you do have any catering needs, drop me a line and I’d be very happy to put you in touch.
We will also be meeting this evening on Zoom, so if you’re free and curious to discover more about Persuasion and/or to share your thoughts, please do come along:

We’ll be returning in September with our first ever thriller, The Talented Mr Ripley! Details below, and a reminder that you can find details for the full Autumn programme here:
📚🚶September
The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith
In the first thriller ever to be discussed by Emily’s Walking Book Club, we follow Tom Ripley - fiction’s most terrifying con man - as he leaves behind his past as a ‘sissy’ to pursue playboy Dickie Greenleaf, who’s enjoying a glamorous life in Italy. Psychologically fascinating and deeply unsettling, this classic noir points to the Ripley latent in all of us, as we consider whether a psychopath really is, as Highsmith said, ‘just an average man living more clearly than the world permits him.’
